I thought a long time whether this event of our seminar gets an extra post or not - now came to the conclusion - YES, it does get it's own post!
Because it was a very nice and intense experience and has helped to get to know our group members a bit closer.
In the morning (around 11:00 o'clock) each one of us got an apple, a bottle of water, a banana and a packet of spaghetti.
In groups of four or five, we were driven - blindfolded, so we could not see, where they were going to drive us
- somewhere (approx 1 - 15km
from Wünsdorf away).
Our tasks were now:
- not to use our phones
- to find out where we are
- to find a way back to Wünsdorf to the lake lido
- to get our bananas exchanged against
something for our common conclusion-picnic at
18:00 o'clock, possibly we should also try to get our
spaghetties cooked
-> In addition, our group-specific task was, to make (3)
older people happy.
When we got these tasks, we first thought, we will
probably starve or embarrass us from door to door or
need to be beware of dogs, angry homeowners and tramp-catching cops.
But quite the opposite was the case. Friendly, obliging people everywhere. For our bananas we got cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes and so on.
Because of nice weather, we WALKED all the way back to Wünsdorf.. partially barfoot because it was so hot and well, we lost our
way somewhere but at least we found our way back.
Particulary I want to note here the hotel 'Residenz am Motzener
See', because there were two very very nice young ladies at the information desk, who willingly explained us the way and filled us the water
bottles again.
In addition, a lady we met in the allotments
before Töpchin, who has cooked us the
spaghetti and was very nice. For saying thank you, we picked her a wildflowers Bouquet.
Later on, on our eternally long journey, we met
a three headed family in their small cottage / garden area, who invited us for a glass of cold water out of their own fountain
- and - enlightened us about the history of Wünsdorf. Very interesting by the way, and quite nice to know that there are a few hundred old Soviet
bunker under our feet..
At the end we were able to make ourselves a nice and good tasting noodle salad.
Apart from that there was a lot more to eat (our supervisors of SAGE Net had brought pizza, because they had not believed in such a big success, too.)
Overall, one of the most beautiful days
of our seminar
(I think), which prepared
us very well for South Africa. - Just not be afraid to ask for directions and knowing that there are many helpful
and friendly people.
